Picnic Table Beverage Cooler

Spotted this online and thought it was both simple and clever. Replace the center slat of a picnic table with a rain gutter to provide a beverage cooler? I think I would work on mounting it a little more elegantly but seems like a workable idea.

Sounds good until you look at the profie of a real gutter. Look at the profiles and se how it matches up with the bottom of a real bottle of wine, looks a little narrow.

How about some plastic planters with drain holes instead. Would be deeper and wider and have more room for ice, and have a lip all the way around the top.

After carefully analyzing the bottles....several today...and that gutter system, I have come to the conclusion that is probably a pvc gutter....and those have a trough profile, not the K profile the aluminum or steel gutters have.....and I rest my case as I set my bottle down.....

I like the support halfway down the middle so the trough doesn't sag. Very cool...
