Permit needed?
 

I'm building a 12x20 deck. It will only be about 18" high. In Kentucky, would a permit be required?

Ask the local inspector!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless someone here lives where you do nobody can answer that question.

Where I live, you only need a permit if you exceed 30" above grade. Wanna build it here and then ship it to Kentucky? :laughing:

Here in Maine, if the deck is attached to the house, a permit is required. But I think a simple phone call to the town office will answer your questions.

Yep, made the call. Permit required if attached to the house and/or over 120 sf.
