Off topic: Building Cat Scratchers

Not sure where to put this post, but I wanted to share with anyone who is interested the cat scratchers I built.

Basic idea is to use Sonotubes for circles and half circles. And get discounted carpet (most places give it for free or $5 - $10.00) end of the roll.

If anyone wants to know more I can post pictures of the simple designs I came up with.

Here are 2 of the latest ones I've made. Both are made with Sonotube and to attach the sonotube to the base all you have to do is cut a round piece of wood that fits into the bottom of the sonotube. Then staple and glue the round piece to the bottom, then drill from round wood piece into base.

There are TONS of designs on the web, for example this site shows some ideas... http://www.mycatsheaven.com

Just pick a design and its actually less than a half day to build one. I used glue to attach the rug to the sonotube, but after a while realized that to do that it is a lot more work. So what I do is run small boards up the length of the sonotube and then staple through the carpet and sonotube into the wood running up the length to hold it in place.

Let me know if you need any more info.

The cure for any cat problem.... water in a spray bottle.

Our cats were scratching the couch and making annoying meowing noises and I kept on them every time with the water...they are cured!
