I recently put in a stairway in a house I'm building. It is a 12 step to a 4'x4' landing, does a 90 and goes up five more steps. I used 1 1/2" plywood for the treads (9" no overhang) and (7") risers. The last time I did stairs, I avoided the oak, had a one inch over-hang and had carpet put in. But I want to try oak this time. Drywall is on both sides of the stairs and the railing is attached to the wall. Any ideas would be appreciated.
