Newel Post Trim. Not fun.
I bought the L-bracket Kit for my post. Last step here is putting this trim kit on. It's maybe 1/16" too long in most directions. Either gaps in the ends of the trim where they meet, or, gaps against the wood. Looks like to cut it properly, you need to have the miter saw blade tilted at a 45* angle, plus turn the saw base by about 8*? WTH... Ruined a piece, now I have to buy a new kit (I assume I can't just get another short piece of trim.

Plus I have to wait now until I have 3 coats of stain on whatever I get again.

Please help?

I think I found out where I messed up. Cutting the trim through the top, it doesn't lay flat on the base of the saw. Hence the angle. I just need to hold it level first. Stupid mistake. Cheap, but, time consuming. :(

$20 mistake. Ah well, I'm still $2400 ahead versus paying out to get it done. :D
