New loft bedroom, house now creaks

I recently had a loft added up in my attic now it seems that the floor joist in the basement are creeking every 2 min is this normal

What exactly did you do framing wise to this attic to make it a bedroom? Did you have an architect design this and get permits and inspections?

I had a contracter come in to do the work there were permits and inspections done throughout the build. I informed him of the creeking he said it was normal but I was wanting a second opinion

You have added a substantial load to the house. There might be some settling issues because of this, but no one here can tell you it's not the result of some connection or support issues not correctly done.
The weight bearing loads should have been carried down to the foundation and main beam support poles.
I don't suppose you took any pictures during the build process?

I don't have any picture's of the build because I went away while the loft was completed.
