Need help with framing roof for sunroom

Hello, and I'm new here and I hope I can explain this correctly.

I am in the process of designing a four season porch. The demensions is 12'6" x 14'. I have the slab all ready poured for it. I just need to frame it up. I can do just about everything else, but I ran into one problem.

My current house has roof trusses. I want to build this sunroom with a valted ceiling. I talked to the building inspector and he requires that I use 2 x 12's for the roof joists for the proper "R" value. Well, I need to tie into my current roof trusses. Using 2 x 12's would raise the roof and the soffet 3". This would make the soffet jog up at the transition of where the sunroom and house are.

My question is what can I do to use 2 x 12's and still match up my existing soffet and overhang so they match?

Any help would be well worth it.

Thanks,
diehard

diehard, I find it difficult to believe that 'R' value has anything to do with your structural plans.
