Need help cutting a "triangle"

How do you cut both the 45 degree angles using a mitre saw?

Thanks for any help.

Need help cutting a "triangle"

A little more information would help. What are you making? What are the lengths of your sides? I'm guessing by your question that you're making a right triangle, with interior angles of 90, 45, 45?

Set the saw to 45, cut a 45 on one end of longer stock. Now, flip the piece to other side of blade, and you can cut off your triangle.

If your stock is too short to give proper support for second miter, you can support the second cut by using cutoff from first miter to clamp the piece to fence.
