Need advice for 2 story deck

Hi.
First post. Sorry for the bad english in advance. I'm french canadian

Aight so I'm building a new house this summer. The project involve a 2 story cedar deck:

Both deck are 13' * 13'.
Ok so my question is for posts. How many of them do i need for both the 1st floor and 2nd. I plan to use sonotubes (concrete posts) for the foundation. I'd like to use 8" * 8" cedar to hold the 2nd floor and the roof. I want it to be rock solid. I'd like advise on spacing too if possible.

Thanks a lot.

you need to hire a professional engineer to design your decks. You have to account for the loads not only for the decks but the roof over the deck. I am not familiar with the National Building Code, but in the states nothing in our building code would provide prescriptive construction guidelines for building such a structure.

Did you do the drawings, or did you hire someone. If you hired them they should be able to design the structure and have someone knowledgeable and qualified to do so.

Good luck!

Yea i did hire a architect who did those drawings as part of my house plans. I'll ask her if she can do the structural design.

Thanks

All Architectural firms have structural engineers on staff here, or at least at their disposal. Where are the structural drawings? They should show you what to use, size, type, spacing, and fastening. What kind of Architect dosent give you structural's?
