My first project complete

I built my first project! I built an outdoor farmhouse table from cedar. A few things that i learnt along the way that would probably make the second time (if needed) easier.

1. be patient!

2. Dont over tighten with the kreg jig - I was using my power driver and screwed right through the pocket hole!

3. Have lots of cloths to protect from spilling stain

4. be patient!

5. stain before assembling properly

6. learn how to stain properly (it was trail by error)

I used the kreg jig but also incorporated metal brackets and bolts as part of the design.

take a look and let me know what you think

That's a nice first project and it will serve you well. Tables like that can and are used for everything including a work bench after the new wears off and we aren't so protective of our work.

As you've discovered, experience is a great teacher because those lessons we don't usually forget although they do seem rather painful at the time.
