My antique balusters are only 27". Is there a way to extend them to 32"
 
I have a large amount of antique balusters that I would like to use on the two stairscases in my old house. Unfortunately the balusters are too short at only 27". What can I do to increase the length to 32". I really do not want to change the structure of the staircase and balcony.

No way I'm aware of "extending" balusters.

The only thing I would recommend is bringing one to a furniture, cabinet-maker, or skilled wood-shop, and asking them about making duplicates (including the stain and finish) that are of the length that you want/need.

You will have to also replace any newel posts, or possibly modify, to accomodate the baluster length change.

Raise the floor (or fake it).
Run a piece of something horizontal between the posts for the balusters to go into rather than the floor.
