Miter saw angle cut question

Ok, I realize that this is a pretty dumb question, but here goes. I am getting ready to replace my deck rails with a composite system. For the stair spindles, I will will have to cut the angles and as I look at the old ones still up, I see that the cut of the angle on the top is opposite from the one on the bottom. I plan on doing a mock up with scrap 2x2's before I cut the good stuff, but is there a good trick or technique for remembering how to cut the angles opposite from each other on each end?

thanks

Miter saw angle cut question

Try using an angle tool, check the angle of the old one then use that measurement to duplicate the new piece. Or just remove an old piece and use that as a guide.

Miter saw angle cut question

When you get the angle set correctly, mark your saw with a sharpy so you can go back to that setting, or cut all of your pieces at one time. Alway remember that the long ends of the miters are always opposite each other and always the same angle.
