Loading nails in nail gun

Bought a new Porter Cable compressor and it came with a nail gun and some nails. I read the instructions but still can't figure out how to put the nails in ...lol.

If it's a finish nailer, there should be a lever on the side that slides back and locks. The nails drop into a channel on the top. Pics or a model# would help.

Post a picture of the gun!

Their will either be a spring loaded release on the side or the nails will be loaded through the rear and you'll pull back a follower to keep forward pressure on the strip of nails.

I had the same problem with my first nail gun.

I have to stop and think every time I use my narrow crown gun, you have to flip it over and load up side down which is different then all my other guns.

True. I forgot about that type.

I show up on a simple job I had a new guy that had told me he was a framer was working on.
He had one of my framing guns all apart and said it would not shoot.
It was a 20 deg. angle nailer and he had the nails in backwards.
I hand him my Paslode so he could get back to work and he loads the gas bottle that says right on the bottle for finish nailers only, (same size bottle, different color) then complains that one will not shoot.
Turned out to be a short day for him. :) Wonder where he's screwing up now?

I had zero problems with the first 2 or 3 as they loaded like a stapler. Then I bought a Senco finish nailer and it took a bit effort to figure out. I still have to think about to remove the nails to changes sizes.

Here you go. I just don't know which way to install them. Thanks

The nails will load from the Top of the magazine on the gun. First pull the follower toward the rear of the gun until it locks. Then drop some nails into the exposed slot on the top of the magazine, pointed side down. Finally, there will be a release in the rear of the gun to snap the follower forward.

All of this should be spelled out in the owners manual, btw.
