laminate transition at entry door

Yesterday we installed laminate flooring in a neighbor's house and only had one hang up: the old floor was level with the entry door to the garage and there is no threshold . We didn't take up the old flooring so by adding laminate we have raised the floor 1/2". I see our options as 1) run laminate under the door to the edge of the step and cut the door down (its wood, not steel) or 2) use a bull-nose transition piece at the door. HO doesn't want to do the bull-nose because he thinks a 1/2" step up inside the door is going to look bad. I think cutting the door down is more odd. Thoughts? How is this typically done?

Thanks !

The best solution is to raise the door. This involves removing the door and frame. You may have to increase the height of the header. This will also alow you to install a threshold.

LOL.... in my house, maybe. In his house, lets just say I had to bring all the tools to do what we did. The BEST solution would have been to remove the 30 years and 2" of flooring and subfloors, but he didn't want anything to do with that......
