kitchen table

I want to build a kitchen table. The design idea includes metal square tubed legs with wood structure. I'm looking for the best way to connect the wood apron to the metal legs. The best that i can think of right now is lag screws from inside the legs into the apron. I would love any suggestions. Thanks

This is the closest image I could find to what I am thinking of for the design.

Different from what I imagined. Don't think lags would hold very well. If the tubing has thivk enough walls, you might be able to tap it to take a bolt. Getting a threaded insert welded in would be better.
