Kitchen Island with breakfast area

Can anyone assist me in getting plans for a kitchen island with a breakfast area 8' long 4' wide

Most often the island is made up of stock cabinets---

Is the top size 4'x 8'?

How much over hang for the dining edge?

Are you building this yourself from scratch?

Yes I am going to attempt it myself from scratch. I did not want to go with stock cabinets cause it was to plain. Yes it will be 4 wide and 8 long. No over hang because it will be 35'' height and then the back of the island will have a second tier 8' long 1'5 wide and 1' height. I hope my idea makes sense in writing and not just in my head. I am looking for these sort of plans that will in detail show me how to go about doing this or more putting a frame together for it.

Considering, this is purely a custom piece, it's unlikely you'll find plans.
You haven't stated what is holding this thing up.
Is it just a big 2 tiered table or are there cabinets underneath?
I'm a little confused by the "plain" comment concerning cabinet based islands. You can make some intricately designed islands with decorative posts and interesting cabinetry.
I also don't understand why the second tier will top out at nearly 4 feet high.
It would help if you were a lot more detailed in this island components and what you were trying to accomplish.

Could you draw a rough sketch?

I can't picture this in my head---

This is an idea of what I am trying to do.

This link is actually more of the idea that I am having and want to build it just like this. Would anyone know how to get plans like this.

The sink side uses standard 24" deep base cabinets The high side typically uses 42" or 48" upper cabinets--12" deep---this photo Shows a tall 24" wide x 12" deep drawered unit turned to act as the support for the top.

If you wish to scratch build this you will not find stock plans any where--this is a custom piece and will need custom plans.

Have you got any experience with cabinet building?

If you enjoy woodworking and want a challenge that you can be proud of this is the project.

I suggest that you visit our sister site---Woodworking Talk---Link at the bottom of this page.

Check back---there are other cabinet makers here that may chime in----Mike----
