Kitchen counter top next to stove code?
This photo is the same situation as mine. The question I have about it is the counter top hight. Will the counter hight pass code if like in the photo with counter top above the stove? What are the required hight for a island like this flush?

why not raise stove up by the adjusting legs.....problem solved...are these standard cabinets?

Don't know of any codes governing countertop heights.

Personally, I would raise the adjustable feet on the stove to make it closer to the countertop height.

oops...what Ben said.........

the only codes that i know of regarding counter top heights are in regards to kitchens designed for those in wheelchairs.. they must be lower so to allow someone in a chair full use of the countertop

i know there must be a small air space between the stove and the cabinets at the sides

I'm going to raze it but wondering how much. Are most flush with the top of stove or should it be lower?

Most are flush or with the stove slightly above counter level. It really depends on what stove you have and what sort of top it has. If the stove has a rounded lip along the edge then raise that up above the edge of the counter. In general, you don't want the "sharp" edge of the counter showing because it will a) catch dirt and b) look funny.

If your legs won't go any higher then consider putting down a sheet of plywood under the stove to raise it. You can try putting blocks (ply or 1x or whatever) under just the feet to save wood but it can be a real pain to get the stove up on them when getting it back in position.

The OP supplied you with a photo why don't you look at that first?
