J trim on aluminum siding

new windows were installed couple of days ago. the front windows are with j trim. the j trims are not installed flat on the siding. There are gaps on the side & the top portion. They install a vinyl filler at the bottom and it now looks straight.

However the side portion warps as well as the top one. according to the contractor this is perfectly normal because we have aluminum sidings. Is this true? What remedy can be done to fill the gaps? I am afraid that these gaps are invitation for insects to build nest inside. Thank you

J trim on aluminum siding

Doesn't sound right but post a few pics if possible.
What is behind the siding?
Asbestos shingles? Plywood? Cedar clap?
Aluminum siding or vinyl?
Existing or new?

oh...2 1/2''j channel, that will do that, doesn't really matter what type of siding you have, the face of this material is very flimsy...i suppose your installer could try to ''shim'' it out some to try and straighten it somewhat but it is what it is ...sorry

depends on the installer, looked like he did a nice neat job,but like i said the wide face j is flimsy at the face and will tend to ''warp'' like that

it can be done with wood
