Interior French Doors

We want to install French Doors in an opening that has been finished between our bedroom and sitting room. Is it possible without removing all the molding? The width is 58".X 78"

Got a picture?
How do you plan on covering the jambs on the door if the mouldings not removed?
That's also an odd ball opening size so some reframing may need to be done.

How old is your house, that is an odd size opening, how are you measuring it?

Two 30" doors with 1/2" rip on the four sides will make it. You need further cuts for spacing on ends and middle. 2 1/2 - 3" cuts from bottom. The cuts will make the doors look out of proportion, but not extreme.
Stops and ball latches are best to keep the doors closed.
You may have to reinforce the jambs.

if you have to take that much material off them i would use pine doors at that. some french doors that are paint grade use filler stock which gets exposed when cuttin the door down.

You can go for French Doors without removing the molding, but the width of door sounds odd. You will have to get re-framing done to get the Fresh Doors fitted between bedroom and sitting room.
