this is my first whole house project, and we just got dried in. I'm planning the steps I need to accomplish before drywall, and I am not sure about the interior doors. Do they get framed in before drywall or after?
Install after drywall, but before the finished paint.
Doors and their corresponding trim work may also be installed after the primer is applied. (example: if the primer is sprayed onto the walls) Whatever the situation, doors should still be installed "before" the finished paint is applied.
Key point: When installing doors and their trim-work, as well as window trimwork, walls will get "dinged" or receive minor damage. Those damaged wall areas will need to be repaired with compound, and primed, before painting. That is a key reason why it is better to install doors before the finished paint work, so as to avoid having to re-paint walls multiple times.
