Interior door casing too wide
We recently decided to upgrade the moulding in our home. Base from 3.5" to 6" & casing from 2.25" to 3.5". The problem I have is that a few of the doors were hung so close to a corner that the 3.5" casing won't fit. I could replace some of the doors with smaller ones, but for others this would be impractical. I was thinking about ripping the casing on the tight corner side, but wasn't sure how how that would look with the top piece. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It generally looks like poor planning to have too many door trims truncated against a wall.

It’s either rip the casing or move the door.

I've had to do it before, not ideal but is doable. Works best when you don't have to remove too much of the side piece of trim (leg).
This has an illustration from a while back. http://www.diychatroom.com/f19/frami...-corner-52061/ Good luck. |
