Installing an attic above my 2 car garage

I have a two car garage with gable roof which has not had a ceiling attached, and so is open up to the rafters. I want to install an attic above with pull down stairs for access.

1.) Should I sister the bottom chords with beams larger that what the bottom chords are built with?

2.) Should I install verticle braces between the top and bottom chords around the drop-down stairs frame?

3.) Can the webs be replaced with verticle supports?

If you have trusses, which it sounds as though you do, you cannot modify them without either the original mfgr approval (good luck finding out who they are) or an engineers stamped plans.
Although people use the attics formed by trusses for storage, they are limited to light duty storage, such as Christmas decorations, luggage, etc.
Modification of trusses, such as cutting chords, removing webs. etc., will cause your next house insection to fail, about the time you were hoping to sell. Don't do it without proper review and approval.

It totally depends upon what you want to use it for and what it was currently designed for.

What do you want to use the attic space for?

Are there any markings on the trusses to indicate who manufactured them? Can you get info from the builder on the trusses? Is there anything filed with your local building dept on the trusses?
