There are good How-to deck books at home stores. But the support structure is VERY important. If you skimp on that or miss a step, the deck could collaps with people on it, NOT GOOD. Most areas require permits for decks to insure safety, and that requires detailed drawings.
Thanks. We live in a remote county of KS, way out in the woods, and don't need building permits. After I posted I've found a couple good sites on the internet with good directions, so I'm off and running.
