Ideas for Building a Sliding Safety Gate

YOu can get slides that can handle a lot of weight. Mind you a toddler banging/hanging on it can be some force too. So maybe a slide at the top and wheels on bottom?
For the Latch you could have something that once the door is closed it would stop it from going back into the pocket, a simple pin would work.

Maybe a latch on the cabinet side would be good as the toddler could also pull the door away from the cabinet and possibly bend the slides?
Hopefully others with knowledge will chime in as we are designing something unusual here.

i would use 150 pound full extension slides used in a spice rack like link
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...4&site=ROCKLER

but i have found a cost effective way with my 8 children but some might say it is child abuse

what if you attach something to the inside of that pantry door?

When cooking open the pantry door slide out the attached thing, when done cooking slide back in and close pantry door.
