HVAC bulkhead...need advice

Well, I build a bulkhead around my cold air return in my 1/2 bath. What do you think? It's actually perfectly level and probably the most solid structure in this house. I also had to cut the studs it rests on in the back. It had a 2x3 that was nailed to the front and the studs just ended. The wall wobbled. I attached the far left stud you cannot see to the joist then cut 3" off of the two middle studs, attached a 2x3 to each end stud and then the two middles to the top plate. The wall is very solid now.

Now, time for my question. I need to build a bulkhead around my other HVAC vent that goes the width of the room. I am also building a partition wall with a bi-fold door. The red is where I need to frame. The blue is where I will frame the closet.

My question is how do I assemble this? How do I attach to the studs? Any advice?
