How to protect the deck from the winter

Hi all,

After weeks of hard work I finally got my two levels deck to real wood stained color.
Pressure washer stripping, sander and three times natural stain.

Now, I am in Canada and winter is coming soon, I wanted to find a way to protect the floor from the snow and ice and I was thinking to cover it with thick transparent plastic nylon, so that I can easily shovel the snow without any contact with the wood floor.

What's your opinion on this?

Thanks
Alex

Any covering you put over the wood deck will hold moisture ---this will degrade the wood ----

It will trap the moisture against the deck and probably do more harm than good.

Sorry but there is no real easy solution here.

Try brooming the deck when the snow comes down.

Use a plastic blade snow shovel and I doubt that there would be any damage that can be measured or observed. The wood will rot before you would damage the boards with a snow shovel.

My concerns with covering it are as the others...trapped moisture. This will cause more damage than a snow shovel.
