How to measure angles?

Dependant on the size of the area....

The key is that you need "reference points" to measure off of.
With a "Triangular" shape, your best bet is to use: either a framing square or a T-square (dependant on the expanse of the area)

Take the corresponding square (Framing or T), place it on the area of the roof that you are trying to determine the measurements of. Next, set one straight "leg" of the square onto a straight edge or line of the triangular shape that you want to measure.
Now, as you look at the square, you have two key points of reference (the legs of the square) to take your measurements from. You have each of these leg segments of the square which are at a perfect 90 degree angle.

Use each "leg" of that sqaure as a reference point to measure your triangle with.

Essentially, you are going to draw out the rough shape of that square you are using on a pad of paper. Then you are going to place the square onto the area and use it to measure off of. Record all your measurements.

When you go to cut out that same shape on your "paneling" ( I think you mean roof sheathing), you will use the same square to lay out and make your marks on the material that you are planning to cut to size....

connect the dots and draw your lines......

.....voila, you should have your triangle!

How are you going to cut your roof with a miter saw? And what are you trying to do?

This is what made me think he is cutting some sort of trim. Maybe on the ceiling (roof).
