If it is wood, put it in the carpentry forum.

Questions about steel beams, blocks, insulation, tile, etcetera go in the construction forum. A lot of carpentry questions get asked in the construction forum, and I don't think it matters.

As stated, Carpentry is pretty much non structural things, such as: finished trim, baseboard, stairs, shelves, furniture...

Things like framing and building-related items should be in Building & Construction. However, some things are more related to Remodeling.

To a new DIYer, I know that it can all be a little confusing. Don't worry too much, if a question is posted in the wrong forum, the moderators try their best to catch them and move them to the correct forum, so that the right answers can be given.
