How to create hinge mortise on bevelled hinge edge using a router & jig?

with only 1/32 gap the leg will flex enough to clamp.
If your in the business buy a good jig, for a one-of thing this works excellent.

You're right. I never thought about it flexing.

I would buy a jig foor what I want to do if one existed but they don't. All commercially available jigs only work for square cut edges not beveled edges, hence the reason for my starting this thread. If I bought one of these jigs and cut the bevel using it then the front surface of the hinge at the pin would be flush with the bevel whereas the back would be recessed. Not a good look. Squaring off the beveled edges is not an option since this would remove the veneer and expose a different wood underneath resulting in the edge not matching the face of the door, not to mention the small risk of not cutting the door square.

Could have used one when I was doing insurance work replacing doors after break-ins, I too had not heard of it.

I made a mahogany front door and like you I did not want to put nail holes in the edge of the door to hold the jig. I played with U shaped jigs and ways to clamp them and finally decided to just nail the jig to the door edge. I felt it was safer than to try to attach the U shape jig and have it slip and take a bite out of the door. Two tiny dots on the door edge on either side of the hinge can't be seen when filled and stained.
