Default Holes between brick and trim

I hope you can make some sense out my question and the picture I have attached.

I had a contractor replace my siding, fascia and soffit with Hardie products. The final installation yielded a few cracks (openings) at the top of the brick wall where it meets the trim under the soffit.

How do you plug those holes?

There is a lack of mortar because the original home builder didn't have to mortar the bricks that high because of the way the soffit and trim was installed.

Is this an application for the cake icing bag and mortar to fill in the holes?

Sorry about the pic. The sun was right in the cameras face causing a lot of glare.

All help appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I would use caulking. Be sure to use backer if the gap is more than 3/8".
