Hide deck board ends

Does anyeone have a good idea to hide ie.. make a nice clean edge for wood decking? I don't want to use a facia board as I have multi level step downs w/ lights. I'm looking for something like "L" molding that is thin and can be put over the edge to hide the ends of the decking. Any suggestions??

I am not sure that I follow you about the exact area that you are writing about.

Here's a picture, can you use this to describe more in detail what you are referring to?

You would have to install blocking between the joists then run a 2x perpendicular to the deck boards.

Wouldn't you need to drop your joist hangers an 1 1/4" so that the joists will sit lower. Then when you add your decking, it will be level with the ledger and rim joists?
