I am replacing a porch that has a lot of rott on it, and was wondering if the suports beems that hold up the small roof above are suposed to sit on the porch below with a support beam holding up the porch or do I run the support beams from the bottom of the roof all the way to the ground, then build the porch around them
For us it's easier to build the roof base first and do the porch around it. I like to know the roof will never go anywheres not to mention having to beef up the porch to support the roof load too if going supports ontop of porch.
I ended up doing the porch support first then the roof. Worked out great.
Bruce.
