Help! Rotted Sill Plate Corner 3 Story House
I can do pretty much anything around the house and on vehicles. There are just some things that are better off left to someone that does it all day everyday. The risks are not worth the savings.

Help! Rotted Sill Plate Corner 3 Story House
Tnt rob
Jacking a house is as hard as it sounds. Section of wood is proballyunder ten feet. Diverting a load temporaily is all your doing. I said 11.5 lb steel wbich is accurate. It refers to density, bu you probaly didn't know that. 11.5 will get you at least a 50 psf rating, which i did in my basement ten yeasrs ago one post in basement over 40 ft. You are a nay sayer. They can choose to do waht they want and if they don't feel comfortable, they canconsult an engineer. Hiring a contractor probaly will cost 10000 dollars for a sill replacemebt. There is probaly 1000 dollars worth of materials in the total job. Thank you scuba for the back up. You my friend are the yahoo and a nay sayer that this forum could do without. Although you are entitled to your opinion so am I. Just because you probaly couldn't do this because you lack knowaledge ar you are afraid does mean they can't try. Insurance will cover them. Contractor could do shoddy work change dba and leave these people out to dry. Please take your no can diy attitud esomewhere else.. Secondly, i am on an ipad and in a chat room not grammar school. Hard to type ob this thing but you probaly have not done that ethier. Last edited by ianc435; 11-13-2010 at 05:53 AM. |

Number two if you are in the buisness you should be in the contractors chatromm not promoting negative attitudes in this chat room. This forum is a do it yourself forum not "hire someone else" forum. Your obviously trying to protect your trade intrests, not working. I am not in the buisness but noone touches my house unless they have unbelievable credentials and i have too much going on. If people want to under take this them selves it is there choice not yours. Ridiculous contractor rates. 5000 to swap 110000 btu furnace three zones rediculous 2000 dollars for front step one step landing silly 23000 for finished basement outragous Install under slab bathroom 7500 yeah ok Renivate and rewire up stairs sprayfoam insulation 9500 Spray was contracted out 3900 Plasterring contracted out. 1600 and 1300. This is what i have done and the money i have saved not hiring contractors. Don't get me wrong there are some very talented people in these trades. But i can't afford it. I buy property it is mine and noone elses. I follow all building codes to the t and even go over kill on others. Minimun code sucks sometimes and most contractors follow minimun code. |
