Help reattaching refinished stair treads

Hello i pulled up my stair treads and have refinished them and now need to reattach them. They were originally nailed through the top of the tread along the sides and front and then nailed from in behind the riser one step up. I am looking for a way to reattach them with out putting nails through the top as the stain and polyurethane turned out really good. i can screw in through the next riser up and that will hold the back, but i am going to need something on the front. I was considering just using pl400 on the front and sides, but i would prefer not to so that I could pull the treads up again if i ever had to. Another option i thought of was to take off all the risers and put screws in from under neath.

anyone know any tricks for this?

Help reattaching refinished stair treads

Glue and screw cleats to the side of the stringers, glue and then screw treads through bottom of cleats.
