Help with post base trim

Just took a picture of some trim that I liked.

Wondering if:

1) You guys could tell me how to make it

2) If you think it would look OK with my existing posts.

Here's the trim. I think it looks cool. Looks to me like a three piece. 1X trim, followed by maybe 5/4 stock with a bullnosed edge, then something else above it, maybe ripped on the table saw?

Question is, would that rediculous at the base of these posts?

My preference is really to leave the posts as they are, but since those middle three didn't come down to meet my deck, I need to pad them. Then I've got most likely an ugly seam that shouts "repair!" So I think trimming them out is the next step.

If your preference is to leave them as is I would opt for the smallest trim I could find. Will 3/4" round cover?? Kind of hard to tell from the pic. If not, maybe a 1"x3"......add a small base cap on top if desired. You can make it as simple or as extravagant as you want. I check and see what you can find in a suitable composite trim as it will be exposed to the elements somewhat. As far as the sample picture, it looks like a 1"x with a cap and band, but I couldn't tell you the exact names of the pieces offhand. I'm sure someone will chime in who knows the various trim names better than I do.
