Help installing bifold doors

My Photos

I bought a prehung bifold door (48x80) for a closet. Since I've been sick this past week, I'm too tired and weak to give it my all.

How would you install the doors? In order to nail the jamb into the wall, I have to be inside the closet (where it is dark!)

The doors came screwed to the frame, so it looks to me that I need to remove the doors and then mount the frame.

It became obvious quickly that I need a helper, which I don't have at the moment.

Any suggestions for installing these doors would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I have at least 1/2 inch of play all around the door jambs to make adjustments with fillers or shims.

Thanks
Mike

Help installing bifold doors

Will there be casing around the jamb? If so install the casing on the unit first. Then put it into place, level and plumb the unit. Make sure your reveal is correct all around. You might even open and close the doors a couple of times to make sure it functions correctly. You then nail the casing to the wall when everything looks good. Then open the doors and go inside, shim, nail, and install casing on the inside. Good luck!

Install the trim moulding on the outside of the frame. Then remove the doors from the unit, insert into the
RO , level the head and tack it off. Now, reinstall the doors, and use them as a guide to position the vertical jambs for an equal reveal. Tack off the verticals, then open the door and shim the gap between the jambs and RO at the top, bottom, and two points between, marking the locatin of the shims on the jambs. Then install the interior trim, and shoot some long nails through the jambs at the marked locations of the shims, so they reach the rough framing.
