Take a picture of the other gates and post them. Scribing the gate you posted is as simple as it gets.

I don't know, Ron, I think some of the solutions offered here are debatable.

Or not............

Ok, wrong choice of words. I guess there’s plenty to debate for some.

I was taught why waste even a one second of time thinking about it when you can just scribe it and be done.

Perhaps a DB would ruin the looks on this gate project?
may I suggest you take the gate off and install some 3/8" stainless steel full length pins inside the wooden 2x2 spindles?

A couple of little triangle gussets in the corner is all it would take for that tiny gate.

What if the gate were sagging and/or out of square? Then that simple, non-time-wasting slap-it and scribe-it solution would look hack because no thought was put into it.

(Is that a strong debate point? I never took debate in school)

You would square the gate before you designed the cross brace.

Help determining angles

This is what happens when the OP doesn't give enough information. If it's the gate he posted the picture of....a 2 year old can just scribe the brace. He can take it off and scribe it. The OP came back and said something about other gates that could be difficult to do. If those gates are built and hung already....he can just take them down...all this other debating is useless.....

I'm a little confused, now that I see the picture of the gate. I don't know how a thin guide wire and a turn buckle will be more obtrusive then a thick diagonal piece of wood (or 2). From a design standpoint in a deck railing with only horizontals and verticals I would minimize the diagonal visuals.
But, it's your deck.
I tried the smallest turnbuckle and cable combination I could find and it seems the gate is just to small to lift it back to levelness.

My question was meant as more of a lesson in angles than the actual issue at hand. Looking for the real world methods, tips, and tricks.

When you guys say scribe are you talking about simply tracing the outline onto the brace or are you using the true method of scribing with a compass?

N0c7, just install a L brace in the corner of the gate in your picture.

One will do but you could do all of the corners if you think it would look better.

OMG!!!! How many times do I have to tell you to give the measurements. You will not get any real world methods...tips...or tricks without giving the measurements. If you don't understand that, how are you going to understand any explanations?

What are the measurements of the gate?????
