If you want to use a rail bolt they can be installed from the underside, (flat bottom), of the rail. As Funfool said the plug, (rail bolt kit comes with one), is glued and sanded flush, but on the bottom no one can see it. They have a little play until you tighten them so you can align the parts even if off by a sixteenth.

I stumbled across those spring bolts and thought that maybe what I need so that in the end I had a bit of wiggle room.
