Hanging cabinets in a remodeled office closet. Each cabinet is 42lbs empty, and there are two.
Each 42lb cabinet will hang from two 22" wall mounted and angled furring strips 4.75" below the ceiling (allow for clearance to hang the cabinet from the matching angled furring strip).
Problem is I can only hit 2 of the 3 24in-on-center studs in the closet this way. No top rail, no cross pieces and the center stud will be covered by the cabinet walls, thus unusable.
Can I do this will toggle bolts? How much weight will generic toggle (the ones with the metal wings on a nut) bolts support? How many would I need to support 42lb cabinets, PLUS contents?
Or should I just tear up my freshly painted wall

and put a strip of wood across all 3 studs flush with the drywall?
