Gutter installation

Hello everyone,

I just joined the board and love the answers that I get from the community.

I am replacing the soffit and gutters behind my townhome and need an answer to a question. I am replacing the plywood soffitt with vinyl soffit and I am going to use the matching aluminum fascia to top it off. I am going to have the gutter guy come out in the future and install 6" gutters.

The gutter guy asked me if I wanted him to remove the 1 x 2 furring strip behind the eve drip metal and put the gutters under the drip edge. He states that it would be better to have the gutters tucked under. I want a second opinion, LOL

Now my question is what would be better for the house? I live in Florida and we get heavy downpours.

If it is better to remove the furring strip, I will run the fascia all the way up under the drip edge as well as the gutters.

You want both the gutter and the aluminum coil fascia under the drip edge. It prevents water from getting to the wood.
