Grouted Backsplash
 

I want to replace my laminate counter tops with Corian but the tile backsplash is grouted to it. Do not want to remove and replace tile because of cost. What would you suggest I do to seperate the two? I have a 4" angle grinder and you can get masonary wheels for it, how about doing that?

Remove the sink.
Cut the counter as close to the backsplash as possible.
Make sure the counter is unscrewed from the cabinet.
Gently pull the counter piece towards you(it might just slide out)
If not, remove enough grout to free up the counter piece.

Seems like an angle grinder may be a little tough to control, especially in a tight space like a grout line. Could easily damage the tiles you are trying to preserve, not to mention the debris it will throw everywhere. A grout saw would be safer, if that's your main concern. If you're lucky enough to have a MultiMaster type saw, use that.
