Granite top bar

I am wanting to build a simple 3'x5' granite top bar. I want it to be standing height, free standing, and it only needs 1 or 2 shelves in it. I have no clue where to start.

Granite top bar

Build a frame of 2x3 or 2x4, with an 'X' in the middle for lateral support. Nail on some decorative covering(paneling, cloth/leather, etc) and a granite top. use adjustable shelf brackets for shelving. Add a leather arm pad, maybe a brass footrail, for detail. This may be top heavy, so anchor it to the floor.
