Garage door removal

I have a detached garage with one large car door opening and one regular door opening measuring something like 36x82. this garage had a workshop built onto it at some point in time in the back that turns the garage to the left of the car door opening. This work shop is now where the 36x82 door opening is. which is the door i normally go to with a key to access the inside of the garage. i would love to close this room off from the rest of the garage with a partition wall and finish the room up with plastered walls and ceiling the whole nine yards. Before i begin i want to make sure I can accomplish everything and stay within codes. My question is can I close this portion of the room off to the other side of the garage that has the large car door opening and still be within the egress codes? I will be installing a lock on the outside of the large car door opening so I can still get access to this side of the garage. thanks for your help

Just want to make sure I understand the layout. The garage had a side door, and a workshop was built onto the garage outside of this door so that now to access the garage through this side door you need to enter the workshop through some other door, then go through the side door. You want to eliminate the side door entirely so that the only way into the main part of the garage is through the overhead garage door. Is that correct?

If the garage has storage or habitable area above and fixed stairs to it then you need some means of egress other than the overhead door. If not, then the overhead door suffices as sole point of egress. Your local codes may vary.

yeah i screwed that up badly. i'm not deleting any door here. sorry for the confusion. the work shop that was built onto the garage has a normal size entry door on it. i want to close this room off to the rest of the garage with a partition wall. not sure if i can do that because the only access/egress on the other side of the garage would now be the large car door opening and a small window. i would still be able to get into that part of the garage because i bought and locking set from the manufacturer with a key entry from the outside of the garage. thanks for responding
