I am hanging sheetrock in an old prefab building. The wall studs are steel 48"oc and 1" furring was originally attached 24" oc across them, although it was never drywalled. Will 1" wood furring 24" or 16" oc be enough to support 1/2" drywall without sagging or otherwise looking bad? Thanks in advance.
16OC is better and 5/8 on the ceiling is all ways better.
