Framing for sheetrocl ceiling

I have frame my basement walls for my TV room. Originally we were going to have a drop ceiling but have since decided to go w/a sheetrock ceiling.
Will there be a problem hanging the sheetrock ceiling since I framed w/a single top plate vs double? (I also will be running 2 by's across the floor joists above to clear ductwork and such). It looks like to me I will have enough nailing surface as long as I sheetrock the walls first (screwing into the single wall plate) and then nail the 2x4's across the joists above up against the sheet-rocked wall.

Thanks!
Bill

You generally do the ceiling first. It supports the edges. You can use construction adhesive as well as blocking to secure the top of the wall drywall if you think you need it.

As Ron6519 said, you're better off hanging the ceiling first. Just nail/screw the top of the board on the wall to the stud. And definitely use drywall stud adhesive....
