I'm curious why I would caulk the bottom J and not the top. Usually it's the other way around, caulk/seal at the top and leave the bottom open to allow for drainage.

cause one is an inny and one is an outyseal the openings that allow intrusion [sides/bottoms] leave open the draining areas [tops]

remember your water proofing is at the edge flange,the face of the j has no relationship to this

So caulking the J really is just for asthetic purposes? If I tyvek upto and under the bottom side of the window and tape all four sides of the window flange that essentially seals the entire window?

Clearly Rex should be here to weigh-in either on the topic of caulking or belly buttons
