Fitting new wooden door with two locks

At present there is a not very wide UPVC old door.
Can you remove the door and frame, install a new wooden frame with new 44mm wooden front door. Then install any old 5-lever mortice lock plus a latch which covers various thicknesses?

Thank you

Re: Fitting new wooden door with two locks

Sounds like something that should be possible. Most lock sets can adapt to different thickness of doors.

Mortise style locks require the removal of a lot of the door stile. You might get away with it using a solid door.

Why do you want to use an old lock style?

Thank you. Mortice is UK standard. The frame/door is old so new one with wooden would be good. Then can have two locks not just a single key for UPVC.
