First Time Cabinet Toe Kick

Installing toe kick cabinet molding on the bottom for the first time , I have kitchen and bathrooms cabinets that I have to install , the modular house company place all the matching wood in the attic and it's up to me to install them .
The toe kicks for the bathrooms look simple one cut ,a little glue and nail , but the kitchen do I "L" shape the corner or does it have to be a 45 degrees cut? and do I use a 16g or 18g nail gun?
They also gave me small trim I believe goes from the Toe Kick to the floor , now this I do think will have to be 45 degree cut for the corner.

Just butt the toe kick --placing the seam where any gap is less visible from the angle at which it will most likely be viewed---

The 1/4 round shoe molding is best coped with a coping saw-----one section is installed as a butt cut(straight)

The other is first mitered to 45* then the cut section is removed with the coping saw.

Brad nails and glue for the toe kicks----and just brads for the shoe molding.

So "butt" the Toe Kick and cope the 1/4 shoe molding . So what would be best to use 18g or 16g nails.
