Does anyone know how to remove finishing nails? I am trying to remove finishing nails from the bedposts of a salvaged bed frame. Someone used the finishing nails to try to keep the bed frame together. The nails are sunk into the post and I have no idea how to remove them without damage. Any ideas? Thanks!
If they were made accessible, could they not be cut and ground down flush and th eheads counter punched and puttied then use another method of repairing the bed? According to where the nails are, I would be a little concerned about splitting some wood on the bed by pulling the heads through. If this makes no sense, ignore it. I have dealt in antiques a little and am new on this board, reading some of the posts, and just getting my feet wet...so to speak.

Hi Boman47,
This is an old post so I'm sure they have solved the problem. But finishing nails have no real heads. Pulling them through will not damage the face of the wood like extracting them can. When you extract a finishing nail you run the risk of chipping the face a bit.
Welcome aboard.
Maybe not real FLAT heads commonly thought of as heads, but they still have the wider part on the end. Guess I was thinking of really old, dried and small wood with big finishing nails used to repair.
