face lift on 6x6 posts with cedar & rock

I have five 6x6 posts that I would like to dress up some how. I think I like the look when it has a slight taper from the top going down about 4', then install natural stone the rest of the way down.

I could use some tips, tricks and ideas on how to accomplish what I want.

Thank you in advance.

You could frame around the bases with some 2x4 ACQ's and then cover it with some hardy board or wonder board. and then install some cultured stone to it then cap the top with some capping stone at your desired height. take some azek trim and install it over your 6x6's with your desired taper resting on your capping stone.
or you could use some 4"x 8" x 16" block around the 6x6's and install the cultured stone over that.
just something that comes to mined.

Hello Bob, thanks for all your advice. You have been helping me with my uneven ceiling jousts that the five 6x6 posts I'm asking about are holding up. I took your advice and had the 2x4s delivered to build the "strong back" that you described. Thanks, I hope it works. Back to the posts... What is ACQ? As far as the hardy board, good idea. Is the capping stone just a mortar colored brick or does it look like cultured stone.

Thanks again

Kelly

ACQ is a pressure treated lumber that is pressed with a chemical call Alkaline Copper and Quaternary Ammonium Compounds it is use for exterior use.
And yes they do make a cultured stone for capping. hope this helps. BOB
